Director
Kavita Chaudhary, Director Office of Budget and Management, is a junior studying Business Administration and Information Science. She enjoys being a part of the Office of Budget and Management because it allows her to contribute to meaningful decision-making while gaining insight into how resources are allocated to support campus initiatives. She particularly likes her role blending analytical thinking with real-world impact. In her free time, she loves trying new things, from traveling to meeting new people and dancing.
Our Mission
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) ensures financial operations of student government are carried out with transparency, efficiency, and accountability. Our mission is to strengthen the foundation of student government by responsibly managing its budget, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring resources are used to maximize the impact of initiatives serving the student body.
By combining careful oversight with long-term planning, we help student government achieve its goals while maintaining fiscal sustainability.
What We’re Working On
OMB is focused on supporting student government priorities through effective budgeting and expenditure tracking. This includes:
- Reviewing Funding Requests: Evaluating requests from within the executive branch, ensuring resources are allocated strategically.
- Advising Departments: Helping departments implement their initiatives responsibly.
- Developing Financial Reporting: Creating clearer financial reporting structures so the student body better understands how student government funds are invested.
- Collaborating Across Departments: Working with other cabinet departments to align financial management with their projects.
Looking ahead, OMB is committed to refining its internal processes to make financial management more streamlined and transparent. Our work ensures student government resources continue to create meaningful impact for the UNC community.
