About the Department

The Department of Communications serves as the primary communications hub for UNC Student Government. The department manages all media relations, public messaging, and digital outreach to connect student government initiatives with the broader campus community.

Communications staff coordinate social media accounts across multiple platforms to share updates, promote events, and facilitate dialogue between student government representatives and constituents. The department develops strategic messaging campaigns that inform students about student government programs, advocacy efforts, and opportunities for engagement. Staff members handle all public relations matters and serve as liaisons to campus media outlets and university communications offices.

The department maintains the student government website and produces regular announcements through email, social media, and campus channels. Communications team members work closely with other student government departments to publicize their initiatives and ensure consistent branding across all platforms. The department also manages communications requests from student organizations and coordinates messaging during campus events.

Through these functions, the Department of Communications ensures transparent, accessible communication between student government and the student body while strengthening student government’s presence across campus.
