Executive Office of the Student Body President
The Executive Office of the President aims to create space for all students across campus. Through programming, advocacy, and partnerships with vested individuals across campus, our office is dedicated to supporting the diverse needs and experiences of all students across campus and creating a Carolina for Everyone.
The department’s priorities include:
- Investment Advisory Committee: The Investment Advisory Committee was created to form a dedicated body with diverse perspectives and to allow them in institutional financial planning and investment choices. By increasing student and staff participation in university relations, the institution aims to build stronger, more collaborative relationships within its community. Additionally, granting access to information on university investments empowers all members to engage meaningfully with financial matters, promoting a culture of accountability and shared governance.
- UNC Policy Action on Food Insecurity Committee: We plan on instituting a Meal Swipe Donation Plan as it is vital to address food insecurity within the university community, ensuring that no student goes hungry. Additionally, we are working on gaining student discounts at businesses around Franklin Street to make nutritious meals more affordable, alleviating financial burdens. We plan on collaborating with the Basic Needs Taskforce, Carolina Cupboard and Edible Campus to promote campus resources offered to students. This comprehensive approach underscores the university’s commitment to creating a supportive and food-secure environment for all its members.
- Voter Registration Party: Voter registration is increasingly important this year as federal and state elections are coming up. Our party is an engaging and festive way to emphasize the importance of civic duties and encourage community participation in the democratic process. These events combine the fun of social gatherings with the crucial task of registering new voters, making the process accessible and enjoyable. By hosting such parties, organizations can energize and educate the community about the significance of voting, highlighting how every vote contributes to shaping policies and electing representatives that reflect every voice.
- DEI Town hall: This town hall is exclusively focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) as it is critical for staff and students to address the pressing issues surrounding the recent trend of defunding DEI initiatives. This town hall can facilitate a meaningful dialogue about the essential role of DEI in fostering a vibrant, equitable community and underscore the need for sustained investment in these programs to ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive. By coming together, participants can advocate for continued commitment to DEI, emphasizing its importance in building a more just and inclusive society.
- Student Visibility: Student visibility is crucial for fostering an informed and engaged campus community. By providing clear channels of communication, either online or in-person through office hours, students can easily access important information and express their concerns and suggestions. Offering resources that explain how the board of trustees operates demystifies decision-making processes and promotes accountability.
