Executive Order No. 1

THE RESTRUCTURING AND OVERHAUL OF THE CABINET OF THE UNDERGRADUATE EXECUTIVE BRANCH OF STUDENT GOVERNMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL


WHEREAS, the Undergraduate Student Code of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill states that “The President may issue Executive Orders directing the official establishment, conduct, policies or other operations of any committee or representative that falls under the control of the Office of the Undergraduate Student Government President”; and, 

WHEREAS, the Undergraduate Executive Branch of Student Government at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has historically consisted of Cabinet Co-Chairs and Cabinet Committees; and, 

WHEREAS, the Undergraduate Executive Branch’s current committee structure has made difficult the direct execution of overarching administration action plans and procedures and has proven to not be as conducive as it could be to streamlined efficacy of Branch members and stakeholders; and, 

WHEREAS, direct oversight and accountability measures should be made to be more useful within the Undergraduate Executive Branch’s organizational structure; and, 

WHEREAS, the precise execution of Administration platform priorities and service of Carolina’s student body requires specific organizational structure, duties, and responsibilities; and, 

WHEREAS, the present committee structure of the Executive Cabinet should be enhanced to provide designated and direct networks for the direct progress of and accountability for Administration platform priories; and, 

WHEREAS, it becomes necessary that in order to secure the advancement and direct progress of the Executive Branch, and its stakeholders and members thereof, that restructuring and overhaul of the Executive Cabinet must occur, 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, LAMAR G. RICHARDS, Student Body President of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, by the authority vested in me by the Joint Code of the Student Government and the Undergraduate Student Code of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, do hereby order:

  1. That the Undergraduate Executive Branch and Executive Cabinet of Student Government of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill be restructured and overhauled to include the following Offices and Departments
    1. Executive Office of the President
    2. Office of the Vice President
    3. Office of the Chief of Staff
    4. Office of the Secretary / Department of Communications
    5. Office of the Treasurer
    6. Department of State and External Affairs
    7. Department of Academic Affairs and Professional Development
    8. Department of Campus Life and Student Experiences
    9. Department of Civic Engagement and Outreach Services
    10. Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
    11. Department of Student Wellness and Safety
  2. That the Departments of Academic Affairs and Professional Development, Campus Life and Student Experiences, Civic Engagement and Outreach Services, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and of Student Wellness and Safety be directly supervised by Departmental Directors
  3. That Departmental Directors of these aforementioned Departments are directly responsible for the business conducted by their respective Department, in working with Assistant Directors, Deputy Directors, Coordinators, and/or any other position as deemed necessary by the Director, Chief of Staff, or President

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the seal of the Student Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on this day 12 of April in the year of two thousand and twenty one.
