Office of the Student Body President
Leading undergraduate student government and championing student advocacy
Adolfo Alvarez
105th Student Body President
Adolfo Alvarez is the 105th Student Body President of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the first Latino to hold this position in the University's history. A senior majoring in Global Studies and Media and Journalism, Adolfo grew up in Mexico and is a proud immigrant who brings a unique perspective to student leadership.
Sworn in on April 1, 2025, Adolfo's administration is built on three core pillars: accessibility, affordability, and advocacy. His leadership focuses on breaking down barriers that prevent students from reaching their full potential at Carolina. From launching the Carolina Closet initiative to provide professional attire for all students, to securing 24-hour library access during finals, to redesigning the housing application process, Adolfo is committed to turning campaign promises into tangible progress.
In his first year with Student Government, Adolfo has demonstrated that leadership knows no timeline. His administration addresses critical issues including basic needs security, housing accessibility, reproductive health resources, and STEM student representation. Working alongside Vice President Katherine Fiore and Chief of Cabinet Pranav Nemani, Adolfo leads with the belief that every undergraduate student deserves the resources and support to succeed.
Adolfo views the current challenges facing higher education not as obstacles, but as motivation to bring the Carolina community together. His message to students is clear: no matter the climate, Carolina students should feel empowered to support each other and advocate for meaningful change.
